Have a glass of wine
A wedding was being held in a village in Galilee. Jesus, his mother and his disciples were guest at the wedding banquet. As the banquet was nearing its end, Jesus's mother came to him and said," They’re just about out of wine.” Then she told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”
Jesus ordered the servants, “Fill the pots with water.” And they filled them to the brim. Now fill your pitchers and take them to the host,” Jesus said, and they did.
When the host tasted the water that had become wine, he called out to the bridegroom, “Everybody I know begins with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you’ve saved the best till now!”
Here is the thing....
They had tasted the wine that man had made and it was good. It made them feel different all over.
But when the wine Jesus had made was tasted, it was called the best of all wines. See, Jesus transformed the water into being wine that was not fermented and therefore had no alcohol content but tasted as if it did.
This was a miracle.
You ask,"how can this be?"
When there is a miracle done nothing stays the same and in the miracle a part of Jesus is in it. See, when Jesus is in it, man is out of it. When they drank the wine they received a part of Jesus. They received contentment, peace, fulfillment and joy. Wine could only give them a different feeling but Jesus gave them something more. In fact it was so good of a feeling that they could not even explain how they felt.
Jesus even told His disciples saying, “Drink from this cup, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
Notice here He says, 'New'. New means, not existing before. Here on earth wine is man made with alcohol, in Heaven as with Jesus will be a new wine. No alcohol.
I said all of that to say this....
Those of us that have given our life to Jesus have Him living in and through us. We are to be focused as Him, on things of Heaven not of this world. Anything other than that focus is not of Him but of our own self focus. When we focus on self we do things that are sinful and that grieve the Holy Spirit that has been sealed in us. Grieving the Holy Spirit is like having Him next to us rather than in us. Remember that time you drank so much you thought you were beside your self.
Watching the things you were doing but couldn't stop yourself. That is what the Holy Spirit is doing and He can't stop us from doing what we are doing. This is when we do things we hate or regret that we did.
Scripture tells us, do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. Ephesians 4:30
So by drinking wine we are grieving the Holy Spirit. If we are grieving the Holy Spirit and He is beside us then how is He going to be able to help us receive our blessings from God. He will not be able to. This now is called the consequence of our wrong or sinful doing. Everything we do while the Holy Spirit is beside us, is not going to bring Glory to God and is going to cause us some heart ache in the end. See, Scripture says for all believers will give an account of their wrong doings. 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:12
So go ahead and have a glass of wine but prepare for the heart ache to come and for the answer you will give God.
